From our villa in Tuscany we will delight in wine, gaze on rolling mist filled hills, visit medieval villages, and relax. Then we are off for more jaw dropping scenery and adventures on the Amalfi Coast. This is an “off the beaten path” vacation, just R&R and drinking in the Italian lifestyle.

Itinerary – June 26 – July 5, 2022

 

Day 1 – June 26, 2022 (Sunday) – Arrival day

Benvenuti! Transfer from Rome Airport (FCO) to the Villa Casagrande, Tuscany. Settle in for the next 5 nights.

Enjoy a welcome wine tasting. We will take a guided tour through the nobal apartments, museum and the wine cellar at the Villa followed by the opportunity to taste several wines produced at the Villa.

Day 2 – June 27, 2022 (Monday) – Siena & San Gimignano with wine tasting and light lunch


After breakfast at the Villa, we proceed to Siena and meet our local guide. Siena is a city of a great interest for its history and arts, here you are admiring the best of the city like Siena Cathedral, Piazza del campo, Torre del Mangia, and more. On Piazza del Duomo stands the Cathedral of Siena, one of the best samples of Gothic art in Italy, built between 1215 and 1263, dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta. Piazza del Campo in Siena is the main public space of the historic center, regarded as one of Europe’s greatest medieval squares. It is famed in all world for its beauty and architectural integrity, the Palazzo Pubblico and its Torre del Mangia, as well as various palaces around its shell-shaped piazza.

Afterwards you will proceed to a local winery in San Gimignano area to taste some wonderful local wines accompanied by a light lunch. Then you are free to independently discover the beauty of San Gimignano with its perfectly preserved medieval towers. Once the tour is over, transfer back to your hotel and overnight.

Day 3 – June 28, 2022 (Tuesday) – Day at leisure

Enjoy the pool, gardens, take a walk into the village, this is your day!

Day 4 – June 29, 2022 (Wednesday) – Orvieto private tour

Today we navigate the rolling hills, scenic vineyards and postcard-perfect vistas of Umbria and Tuscany. Nothing can prepare you for the visual feast that is Orvieto’s soul-stirring Gothic cathedral that dates back to 1290. Orvieto also boasts a rich underground world. The town sits atop a vast underground network of Etruscan-era caves, wells, and tunnels. Guided tours of the medieval caves offer a glimpse into how these ancient Italians lived.

At the end of the tour, transfer back to Villa Casagrande in Tuscany, enjoy a farewell to our villa dinner and overnight.

Day 5 – June 30, 2022 (Thursday) – Day at leisure

A day of R&R at the Villa. Or take the train into Florence to explore for the day or soak up artwork in museums.

Tonight we enjoy a farewell dinner to celebrate our amazing days at the villa and our next journey together to the Amalfi Coast.

 Day 6 July 1, 2022 (Friday) – Transfer Villa Casagrande/Sorrento

Our private van will pick us up and we will drive to Sorrento enjoying the Italian countryside. 

The rest of your day is at your leisure to explore the town of Sorrento or head to the beach.

Day 7 – July 2, 2022 (Saturday) – Amalfi Coast private tour

You’ll leave Sorrento behind after breakfast today for a full-day trip along the Amalfi Coast, which is undoubtedly among the most scenic coastlines in all of Europe. Your first stop is Positano (terrace, with panoramic view), a village known for its distinctive architecture, with houses perched on the rocky promontory. Continuing on, you’ll visit the spellbinding villages of Praiano, Furore, and Conca dei Marini, stopping in Amalfi for a couple of hours. Here, immerse yourself in the history of this ancient maritime republic or stroll along steep streets. Lunch is at your leisure before you depart for Ravello, a small village above Amalfi. You’ll have some time to explore before returning to the hotel in Sorrento

Day 8 – July 3, 2022 (Sunday) – Day at leisure 

Explore the area, go to the beach, relax by the pool. Or take the ferry over to Capri, walk the hill town and perhaps hire a rowboat to take you into the  Blue Grotto.

OR Optional Pompeii private tour: This morning, we motor to Pompeii, approaching the view of the Bay of Naples on the way.

Imagine, a city perfectly preserved as it was on that fateful day 2,000 years ago, when ash and lava literally stopped it in its tracks. You’ll see the tragic fossils of people attempting to escape along with children and dogs.

Day 9 – July 4, 2022 (Monday)

Sorrento to Rome Airport Hotel, overnight at the Hilton Garden Inn Rome Airport. Breakfast included.

  • 5 nights at the Villa Casagrande, based on superior rooms
  • 3 nights in Sorrento (Hotel Michelangelo or similar, standard rooms, BB)
  • 1 night in Rome airport area (Hilton Garden Inn Rome Airport, standard rooms, BB)

    • City tax, porterage, and gratuities
    • Meals not listed in the itinerary

    Pricing:

     

    $3335 per person based on double occupancy. Solo travelers will be matched with same gender roommates.

    Deposit is $250 per person.

    If you want your own solo room the pricing is $4390.00.

    DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS: A $250 non-refundable deposit is required to hold space, request hotels and confirm your booking. This does not
    include elected travel insurance, non-refundable green fees, tours that require higher deposits and/or airfare that needs instant payment. All
    payments to Celtic Tours are in USD.

    LAND REVISION FEE: A $75 change fee will be imposed for each and any change requested one a booking is under deposit. Revisions and
    changes are not allowed once documents are issued.

    LAND CANCELLATIONS: Written cancellation notice is required for all cancellations and if received by Celtic Tours more than 65 days prior to
    departing, a processing fee of the LAND PORTION of $250 per person will apply, plus any non-refundable fees for land portion of tours. Written
    notice should be received during normal business hours (M-F 9:00 am – 5:00 pm). Cancellations received when the accounting office is closed will
    be processed when the office re-opens. This may affect the charges that apply.

    For Europe: From 64 days to 45 days prior to departure a cancellation fee of $350 per person will apply, plus original deposit and non-refundable fees. From 44 days to 25 days prior to departure a cancellation fee of 50% will apply. Inside 25 days
    up to date of departure, 100% cancellation fee applies.

    TOUR CANCELLATIONS: If it becomes necessary to cancel a coach tour prior to departure, Celtic Tours will offer the next available date at no
    additional land cost or will make a full refund of all monies paid to Celtic. Celtic cannot accept any responsibility for any additional costs for fees
    relating to such a tour booking, unless purchased from Celtic Tours.
