Day 3 – Manyara National Park

Situated under the wall of the Great Rift Valley, Manyara is also one of the oldest national parks in Tanzania and the first park on the northern Safari route. It is home to giant fig trees, acacia woodlands, mahogany trees and grassy flood plains. It is one of two places in the world where you can see the tree climbing lions spreading out along the branches of the acacia trees.

The park also has large herds of Buffalo and ranges of Antelopes and almost 400 species of birds. Flamingos, Pelicans, African Spoonbills, and Hammerkops can be spotted in large numbers on the shores of the lake.

Day 4 & 5 – Ngorongoro Crater

,Today we head to Ngorongoro Crater, part of a group of extinct, dormant and active volcanoes associated with the widening of the Great Rift Valley of Africa. It is the world’s biggest unbroken crater or caldera, which is approximately up to 19km (12 miles) in diameter and stands at over 2,500m (8200ft). This crater is home to lakes, forest, savannah, and an astounding population of about 30,000 animals within 102 square miles. Ngorongoro Crater is often referred to as the Eighth Wonder of the World. Today you will cross the short grass plains to Ngorongoro Crater, with game viewing as we are heading to our camp. Home to the indigenous Maasai tribe, we will visit with them, view their dancing and singing and learn about their way of life. You will meet the chief and his family.

We will descend the 2,000 feet to the base of the Ngorongoro Crater for 2 days of game veiwing. We should be able to spot the “Big Five” elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and African Buffalo. The park also has large ranges of Antelopes and almost 400 species of birds. Flamingos, Pelicans, African Spoonbills, and Hammerkops can be spotted in large numbers on the shores of the lake.

Day 6 & 7 – Serengeti National Park

We will explore the great Serengeti for the next three days. Serengeti National Park is one of the largest and most famous parks in the world because of the annual migration of wildebeest. It covers nearly 6,000 square miles of grassland plains, savannah, kopjes, hills, woodlands, and riverine forest. Serengeti National Park is part of the Serengeti ecosystem. The Serengeti is considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa and one of the Ten Natural Travel Wonders of the World.

We hope to see many Wildebeest babies being born. Thousands give birth during this time of year to ensure the babies are grown enough before the great migration season starts. The annual migration of over two million Wildebeest and 200,000 Zebra is a sight to behold. Being spring time, we will get the amazing birthing season.

We will continue our search for other animals we haven’t yet seen. Lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas and jackals. You will also see Giraffes, Gazelles, Eland, Impalas, Klipspringers and Warthogs, along with fascinating bird species, such as Vultures and Secretary Birds.

Day 9 – Serengeti National Park

After an early departure we will exit the great Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge, wildlife viewing as we travel. You will make a brief stop at a fascinating archeological museum where the remains of the earliest human being were discovered in this area 3 million years ago. After many days of game drives, dusty roads, bumpy jeeps and amazingly fun times, we will enjoy a bit of luxury on our last night before we head back to Arusha. We will stay in a beautiful lodge with a coffee plantation, farm to table cuisine, a pool and delightful grounds. Enjoy the ambiance.
